I Ching Questions and Hexagrams

An I Ching question works best when the background, choice, and current uncertainty are clear, so the result can lead to an action.

Clarify the question first

A useful question includes the background, goal, and current point of uncertainty. For example, replace a broad question with a specific three-month decision.

What a hexagram can offer

A hexagram can prompt reflection on timing, risk, resistance, and possible actions. It cannot guarantee an outcome.

Do not repeat the same question

Repeated questions in a short period can make judgment less clear. Act and review first, then ask again after the situation changes.

Common questions

Can I ask about relationships?

Yes, if the question is specific, such as a communication rhythm, choice, or near-term action rather than a simple yes-or-no outcome.

Should the result make the final decision?

No. Use it to organize your thinking and combine it with real information and professional advice where appropriate.

Should the question be long?

No. It should be clear and specific, with only the key background needed to avoid mixing several questions together.
